πŸ” How to Find Each Product's "Variant ID"

Every product gets a unique number called a Variant ID. This is how your app knows which product someone bought. Here's how to find it:

  1. Click on the product name in your LemonSqueezy dashboard
  2. Scroll down to a section called "Variants"
  3. You'll see a default variant (usually called "Default Variant")
  4. Click on it
  5. Look at the web address (URL) at the top of your browser. It looks like:
    https://app.lemonsqueezy.com/products/1748613/variants/289345
  6. The LAST number in that address is your Variant ID. In this example: 289345
  7. Write it down next to the product name

Connect LemonSqueezy to Your App

What is a "webhook"?

A webhook is just an automatic message. When someone pays you on LemonSqueezy, LemonSqueezy automatically sends a message to your app saying "Hey, someone just bought this product β€” unlock it for them!" That's all it is.

Here's how to set it up:

1
In LemonSqueezy, look at the menu on the left side of the screen.
2
Click on "Settings" (it looks like a gear icon, near the bottom of the menu).
3
On the Settings page, look for "Webhooks" in the menu. Click it.
4
Click the blue button that says "Add Webhook" (or "+ New Webhook").

Now you'll see a form. Fill it in like this:

Callback URL

This is where LemonSqueezy sends the message. Type in your app's webhook address:

https://YOUR_APP_DOMAIN/api/functions/lemonsqueezyWebhook

(Replace YOUR_APP_DOMAIN with your actual app's web address. Not sure what it is? Ask me in the chat.)

Signing Secret

This is like a password that makes sure the message is really from LemonSqueezy and not an imposter. LemonSqueezy will generate one for you automatically β€” just copy it and keep it safe. It should match the secret already stored in your app.

Events to Send

This tells LemonSqueezy which messages to send. You only need one:

Order created

(This means: "Send a message every time someone completes a purchase.")

βœ“
Click the "Save" button at the bottom.
βœ“
After saving, you'll see your webhook in the list. Next to it, there's a button that says "Send Test" β€” click it. This sends a fake message to make sure the connection works.
βœ“
If it works, you'll see a green "Success" message. If not, tell me in the chat what error you see and I'll help.

Give Me the Variant IDs

Once you've done Steps 1, 2, and 3, you're done with LemonSqueezy! Now come back to this chat and paste me your 9 Variant IDs. You can type them like this:

Printable Study Planners: 123456
Exam Countdown Kit: 234567
Night Before the Exam Checklist: 345678
Stress-Relief Quick Cards: 456789

Your Stressed Teen (Ebook): 890123
Complete Study Survival Bundle: 901234

Once I have those, I'll add the "Buy" buttons, build the remaining product pages, and set up access control so only paying customers can see the content.

❓ Common Questions

Do I need to upload any files to LemonSqueezy?

No. Your products are delivered inside your app. LemonSqueezy just handles the payment. You don't upload PDFs or anything to LemonSqueezy.

How does LemonSqueezy know which person bought which product?

When someone clicks "Buy" in your app, they go to LemonSqueezy and enter their email. When they pay, LemonSqueezy sends that email to your app in the webhook message. Your app looks up the person by their email and unlocks the product for them. (This is why users must be registered in your app before buying β€” their email needs to match.)

What if someone buys the bundle?

When someone buys the bundle (Product 9), the webhook tells your app "This person bought the bundle" β€” and your app automatically unlocks ALL 8 products for them.

What if the webhook test fails?

Don't panic. Just tell me in the chat what error message you see and I'll help you fix it.

How long does all this take?

About 30-45 minutes if you're going slowly. Take your time β€” there's no rush.

The Word file opens in Microsoft Word β€” you can save it as .docx from there.
